Cheap, fun entertainment in Edmonton

Post-Christmas time leaves me feeling a tad blue and plenty broke. It’s a hard combo to handle. A key to beating those blues is getting out of the house, but it’s hard when you are trying to save money. I’ve rounded up some of my favourite inexpensive activities to get you out of the house without going into debt.

Princess Theatre

1
10337 82 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 1Z9

Located on Whyte Avenue, this historic theatre takes you back to 1915. My mom was responsible for bringing me to this gorgeous theatre at a young age – thanks mom! It was always such a treat to take in a movie at this theatre. The Princess is filled with ornate décor and really makes the experience more unique and memorable. My mom and I would always pick a seat on the top balcony and try our best not to race through the popcorn till the movie started. The Monday shows are only $6 for all ages.

Wee Book Inn

10310 82 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 1Z8

The Wee Book Inn is a family owned business that’s more than 40 years old. They specialize in high quality secondhand books, music and movies, and have something for everyone. I can spend hours looking at old Archie comics and scouring the vintage books upstairs (that’s right, it isn’t so ‘wee’ after all). The nice part about frequenting the Wee Book Inn is that you can trade in or sell your old books, music and movies.

Since it’s cooled down outside, I’m finding myself going a little stir crazy with a busy toddler running around. My daughter has lots of energy to burn, and our house is not always the place to do it. I searched out some local spots for us to visit and keep us both happy.
I don’t know about you, but now that the Christmas season has come and gone, I am exhausted! From running errands, to buying gifts and looking after my little one, this mama could use a time out. When I need some alone time, here are my go to places to relax and refresh.
Before becoming a mom, fitness was a huge part of my life. I exercised up until the day before my daughter was born. As soon as my doctor cleared me to workout, I couldn’t wait to get back at it. The difference now was that I had a cute little sidekick. Finding places to workout where I could bring my daughter along was a great way to get out of the house, bond with my daughter and set a great example for her.
